QR Code Generator

Make a QR code for any link, text, or WiFi.

A QR code turns a piece of information into a square pattern that almost any phone camera can read in a second. Our free QR Code Generator lets you create one for a website link, a short piece of text, or a WiFi network, then download it as a crisp PNG image ready to print or share.

Everything happens right in your browser. When you choose a type and fill in the fields, the details are encoded directly into the pattern itself. There is no redirect through another site, no account, and no tracking. Because the data lives inside the code, the QR code you create keeps working as long as the information behind it stays the same, whether you post it on a flyer, a business card, or a sign by your front door.

How to use the qr code generator

  1. Pick a type from the dropdown: URL, Text, or WiFi, depending on what you want the code to hold.
  2. For a URL or Text code, type or paste your content into the single content field.
  3. For a WiFi code, enter your network name (SSID), the password, and choose the security type: WPA, WEP, or None.
  4. Watch the QR code appear on the canvas as you type, and check that it looks complete and evenly filled.
  5. Click download to save the QR code as a PNG image you can print, email, or drop into a document.
  6. Scan the finished code with your own phone to confirm it opens the right link or connects to the right network before you share it.

Worked example

Suppose you want guests to join your home WiFi without reading a long password aloud. Choose WiFi from the type dropdown, enter the network name such as HomeNetwork, type the password exactly as it appears on your router, and select WPA as the security type. The generator builds a QR code that encodes all three details. Download the PNG, print it, and tape it near your entryway. A guest points their camera at it, taps the prompt that appears, and their phone connects automatically, with no typing at all.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Forgetting the correct security type for WiFi codes. If your router uses WPA but you pick None, phones will fail to connect.
  • Entering a password with the wrong capitalization. WiFi passwords are case sensitive, so copy them exactly.
  • Leaving off the https or http part of a web address, which can make some scanners treat your link as plain text instead of a clickable URL.
  • Printing the code too small or on a busy background, which makes it hard for cameras to focus and read.
  • Sharing the image before scanning it yourself, so a typo slips through unnoticed.

Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. The code encodes your data directly, so it works forever with no tracking or expiry.

Is my information sent to a server when I create a QR code?

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser and encodes your content directly into the pattern. Your link, text, or WiFi password is never uploaded, stored, or tracked by us.

Can I create a QR code that connects people to my WiFi?

Yes. Choose the WiFi type, then enter the network name, password, and security setting. The finished code lets someone connect by scanning it, without typing the password by hand.

How can I make a strong password to store in a WiFi QR code?

Use a long, unique password so your network stays secure even when the code is on display. Our <a href="/tools/password-generator/">Password Generator</a> can create one for you, and then you can encode it here.
